How SkinOptimizer researches, sources, reviews, updates, and corrects skincare content.

Last updated: August 15, 2026

SkinOptimizer publishes educational skincare content for readers who want clearer ingredient explanations, safer routines, and more transparent product comparisons. This policy explains how the SkinOptimizer Editorial Team researches, writes, reviews, updates, and corrects that content.

Who writes SkinOptimizer content

Articles are published under the SkinOptimizer Editorial Team byline. The team researches public dermatology guidance, scientific literature, product labels, manufacturer information, and other authoritative sources. The team is not a medical provider and does not diagnose or treat skin conditions.

We do not describe an article or product as dermatologist-approved, dermatologist-recommended, dermatologist-tested, medically reviewed, or expert-reviewed unless the specific page identifies a real, credentialed reviewer or source and provides evidence readers can verify. We do not invent interviews, clients, testing panels, product use, or first-person experience.

Source standards

For health- and safety-sensitive claims, we prioritize primary and authoritative sources such as the American Academy of Dermatology, the U.S. Food and Drug Administration, NIH Office of Dietary Supplements, professional medical organizations, government health agencies, product prescribing information, peer-reviewed research, and official manufacturer labels.

  • Important safety, efficacy, and contraindication claims should have a source close to the claim.
  • A manufacturer source can support what a product contains or how the brand directs its use, but it does not independently prove comparative superiority or guaranteed results.
  • Affiliate retailers and competing beauty sites are not treated as medical authority sources.
  • When evidence is limited, mixed, preliminary, or based mainly on laboratory research, the wording should say so.

Medical and YMYL boundaries

Content about acne, pregnancy, retinoids, procedures, supplements, ingestible products, allergies, or persistent skin symptoms receives additional safety attention. Where relevant, we include practical limits, contraindications, professional-care triggers, and sources near the supported claim.

SkinOptimizer provides general educational information, not medical advice, diagnosis, or treatment. Individual risks and results vary. Consult a qualified healthcare professional for persistent or severe symptoms, pregnancy or breastfeeding questions, prescription treatment, procedures, supplement use, or possible interactions.

Product recommendations and testing language

Unless a page explicitly documents a verifiable testing method, product comparisons are editorial assessments based on disclosed factors such as ingredient lists, formulation features, label directions, suitability considerations, price or availability at the time checked, and published evidence relevant to the ingredients. We do not imply personal use or controlled testing when it did not occur.

Skincare results differ by formulation, skin type, tolerance, routine, and environment. A recommendation is not a guarantee that a product will work for every reader.

Commercial independence

Some pages contain affiliate links. A purchase through one of those links may earn SkinOptimizer a commission at no extra cost to the reader. Affiliate eligibility does not prove quality and should not replace the editorial reasons given for a recommendation. See our Affiliate Disclosure for details.

Updates and corrections

We update content when guidance, evidence, product information, availability, or safety information materially changes. Narrow corrections may update the page's modified date while preserving its original publication date. If you find a factual error, unsupported claim, broken source, or unclear disclosure, please use our Contact page. We review correction requests against the cited evidence and correct confirmed errors.
